Big Changes in the Adult Dating World-
A note from Jon Buckheit, FriendFinder Networks CEO
July 1 marks an important turning point in the adult dating space.

When Visa USA announced it would be acquiring Visa Europe last November, there was considerable speculation about how they would harmonize the different chargeback rate limits in the U.S. (1%) and Europe (2%). Ultimately, Visa settled on 1% for both regions.

For AdultFriendFinder, we welcome this change. We believe these practices lower chargebacks, and we are able to comfortably operate within the new guidelines. As the first adult dating site, we’ve built up the AFF brand over twenty years of real member interactions such that we never have needed to use bots, fake profiles, or other unethical and aggressive conversions techniques to get users to convert to paying memberships. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for any of our other competitors. Rolling Stone did a piece on this recently (link here).

Based on what we know of some of our competitors’ business practices, unless they want to stop processing in the U.S. and Europe (and move processing to somewhere like China, which would decimate approval rates and thereby conversions), it is inevitable they will need to stop using these techniques. Without a large real member base, we don’t see how they can stop using bots and maintain their conversions. We expect this to play out over the next few months.

This change by Visa will improve the consumer experience across the board in the adult industry. Our research has shown that when users get hoodwinked on one industry website, they are less likely to purchase on others.

It’s a good time to be an AFF affiliate. We do appreciate your ongoing support of our principle: creating sites where consumers are able to get a real experience. We don’t believe in taking advantage of our customers, and your support of us also indicates, neither do you.

All the best,
Jon Buckheit

On May 23rd FFN officially announced the switch from a dollar based payment system to a token based currency system. For the first time, the site will monetize its viewership based on number of tokens versus dollar amounts – which means all shows and other services will now be displayed and billed based on the Cams.com token system.

The universal cams standard of tokens as currency will allow models to seamlessly cam and interact with anyone who comes to the site, and gives members an easier way to track what is in their virtual “wallet”. Tokens are kept in the member’s wallet for on demand and future use.

Models and members alike have adjusted favorably to the change. “Models love tokens because it feels more fun – almost like a game!” commented Cams Exclusive model Sophia Locke.

Huge Success at the FFN Ultra Affiliate Gathering 2016!

This past April found ten lucky affiliates enjoying the five star luxuries of the Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Playa del Carmen, Mexico with a few select FFN staff members. The three day event is an annual retreat to express our gratitude to our very top affiliates. We include daily activities, an amazing buffet breakfast, delicious dinners, and of course nightly after-hour shenanigans! This year two of our Cams.com exclusive models joined us on the trip: AZBlonde (http://cams.com/AZBlonde) and Nikki Delano (http://cams.com/Nikki_Delano).

On the first day 16 people got to chillax on board a 40′ catamaran (food and drinks included, of course) as it sailed up and down the sun-drenched Mexican coastline. The next day FFN CEO Jon Buckheit went deep sea fishing with two affiliates and caught a few good sized Dorado! Nearly everyone else went on an “adventure park” day that included zip lines, swimming in a beautiful cenote, canoeing, and driving their own ATV through the jungle.

Our final dinner was held at the beautiful Sands poolside restaurant. Jon gave a speech, thanking everyone for attending and sharing their time with us, and telling the crowd a bit about his own history and previous business ventures. After dinner we held the inaugural FFN Poker Tournament! We had several serious players in attendance, but the winner of the final hand was Jon.

More important than all of the fun activities were the conversations taking place amongst our group. Many of the affiliates reported that they were able to grow their own businesses and networks by meeting each other in the intimate setting we provided. Our staff was also pleased to meet the affiliates and their partners. Overall, it was a memorable event and we can’t wait to do it again next year! Make sure to contact your affiliate manager (or any of our affiliate team) to ask how you can get your invitation to the next Ultra Affiliate Gathering!

Spotlight — Meet
Sasa Masic!
Sasa has been with FriendFinder Networks for the past 11 years. She started out in Customer Service and moved over to Affiliate Marketing two years ago. She was recently promoted to a Business Development role and is enjoying the new responsibility. The first show she attended was the Affiliate Summit East in 2014 and says that it was the scariest event of her career. Sasa’s enthusiasm was contagious at her first event and her energy delivered results when she brought in her first account for Adult FriendFinder. Since then, Sasa has attended several more and is becoming quite accustomed to them. “I have met a lot of nice people and it’s been fun working with new and existing affiliates. There is so much to learn in this business and I’ve had the privilege to work with a group of people who have been extremely helpful and supportive,” said Sasa. “I can’t wait to meet more of you on the road!” Sasa’s travel schedule will take her next to DMXCO in Cologne and WMA in Amsterdam. So if you’re there, don’t forget to say “Hi!”

Sasa’s Best Practice Tip: It is important to consider post deal management when onboarding new business. Successful deals are a result of accountability and proactive management. In my opinion, resource allocation should always be considered before committing to new deals to ensure full support availability. It takes a lot of time and dedication to build successful business partnerships and time must be managed wisely.

Bring on the Men!!

Each Quarter we highlight one of our diverse co-brands and this quarter we chose OutPersonals.com to coincide with the launch of our new Cams.com male-branded model portal, male.streamray.com.

OutPersonals.com is one of the largest gay personals online sites, with over 1.2 million members and growing. OutPersonals.com offers a lot of features to its members, including video and chat, interactive cams, a dating magazine with real member participation, interest groups and blogs. People join for a sense of community and the ability to find other people with similar mindsets and desires. Without the limitations of geography, OutPersonals members can develop relationships and enjoy all types of encounters with members from around the world!

In recent months, the model recruiting team here at FriendFinder Networks has focused a concerted effort to attract and sign up new male models to broadcast on our live webcam site Cams.com. “Bringing on board additional male models will help us retain our current female and gay viewership,” says Model Manager, Steve Hamilton. “And for the guys, if they want to make some serious cash and have a lot of fun while doing it, Cams.com is the place to be!”
And to further enhance the experience for our male cam models, we recently released a male-branded version of our model portal, male.streamray.com. The site makes it easy for a model to set up their account and start making money quickly.

So send us your gay traffic today, and whether the guys are looking to hookup on OutPersonals, or want to make some cash on Cams.com, FriendFinder Networks will make sure they are well taken care of!

Hot Times in Miami!

The weather wasn’t the only thing making temperatures rise in Miami Beach at Xbiz and CamCon this year. Cams.com brought the heat with a few of our amazing models, including AZBlonde, KendraSunderland, BirdyAndBeez and CandiTits95. They all turned heads in their Cams clothing (when they wore it that is).

At the shows, our Social Media Manager, Courtney Rudolph and Model Manager, Steve Hamilton participated in panel discussions with some of the biggest names in the camming business. They not only cemented themselves as industry experts, but also educated models and studios about the business and how Cams.com is bringing new innovations to the market.

But it’s never all work in Miami Beach, and the Cams.com team likes to work hard and play harder. The hot Miami nights were the perfect backdrop for three very exclusive industry parties which kicked off with an “All-white clothing mixer” that ran well into the early morning. The second night was the “Neon Party” which was rumored to be still going on when the sun rose over the Atlantic Ocean the next day. The closing party was on the downtown rooftop of the exclusive E11even Lounge with the beautiful Miami skyline as the backdrop.

Overall, our team had a great time with our beautiful Cams.com models, getting business done, rekindling industry friendships, and enjoying the fabulous night life in Miami.

See you again next year!
